Oak Ridge boys' track undefeated after three events

The Oak Ridge track and field teams turned in tremendous performances at the Sturgeon Invitational on March 14. Forty teams competed at this invitational, and the Oak Ridge varsity boys and JV boys placed first. The Oak Ridge varsity boys scored 74 points, and Antelope scored 61 points to place second. The Oak Ridge JV boys scored 130.5 points and Inderkum placed second with 56 points. The varsity and JV boys' teams are undefeated in three invitationals, and one league meet so far this season. The Oak Ridge varsity girls tied for eighth place with 24 points and the JV girls placed second with 58.5 points. The Granite Bay JV girls' team won the meet with 73 points. Senior Demarco Patterson placed first in the varsity boys 100 with a very fast time of 10.81. Freshman Luca Miller placed seventh in the 1600 with a time of 4:29.56, which is a freshman school record and the sixth-fastest time for a freshman in California. Miller's time is the fastest freshman time in the Sac-Joaquin section. Freshman Parker Lange placed first in the JV boys 400 with a time of 52.72, which is a freshman school record. Lange's time is the third-fastest freshman time in the section. He also was a member of the first place JV boys 4x100 relay team and the first-place JV boys 4x400 relay team. Freshman Dylan Lange placed second in the JV boys 400 with a time of 53.63, which is the fourth fastest freshman time in the section. Senior Braylon Roseveare placed third in the varsity boys shot put with a throw of 50'0.5", which is number five all-time at Oak Ridge. Senior Roman Zamora placed first in the varsity boys 1600 with a time of 4:21.84 and was fourth in the varsity boys 800 with a time of 2:00.26. Both times are personal records. Freshman Emily Capelli was a double winner in the 1600 and 3200. Her 1600 time of 5:48.13 is an excellent time and her 3200 time of 12:44.78 is a personal record. There were many outstanding performances turned in by the Oak Ridge track and field athletes. Below are other first-place winners for the Trojans. Austin Mackovic in JV boys 3200 with a time of 10:25.24; the JV girls 4x100 relay team (Sierra Guerra, Genesse Kerr, Briana Bryant, Kaitlin Strawn) with a time of 52.65, and the JV girls 4x400 relay (Maddie Bennett, Siera Guerra, Genesse Kerr, Elise Sale) with a time of 4:33.37. The next meet for the Oak Ridge track and field athletes is the March 18 league meet at Rocklin High School.
