Folsom water rate study public meeting March 21

The city of Folsom will host a second public meeting to share information and receive community input on the ongoing municipal waterworks rate study. The Folsom Water and Sewer Rate Study meeting is Saturday, March 21, at 10 a.m. in the Folsom Library Meeting Room, 411 Stafford Street. Citizens are encouraged to attend and learn more about how water and sewer services are funded, maintained and planned for the long term. During the meeting, city staff and the consultant team will provide an overview of: · The rate study purpose, process, objectives and timeline. · Cost-of-service analysis and rate design principles. · Planned capital improvements for water and sewer systems. · Water supply surcharge rates. · Financial reserve recommendations. · Staffing needs and long-term planning considerations. · Legal and regulatory requirements. · Public outreach opportunities and community input. · Current status and next steps. Based on the cost-of-service analysis, the consultant may develop recommendations related to the existing municipal rate structure. Following public review of the findings, the City Council would provide direction on any potential rate changes, officials said.
