Search on for BB gun shooter at 'No Kings' protest

The Placer County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in two BB gun assaults during a "No Kings" protest in Auburn on March 28. Reports of individuals being shot with a BB gun during the protest near the intersection of Bell Road and Highway 49 were received around 2 p.m. Saturday. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to multiple locations and contacted victims on the southwest and southeast corners of the intersection. The Sheriff's Office confirmed six victims sustained minor injuries and were either treated at the scene or declined medical attention. Deputies, along with the department's Falcon 30 helicopter and assisting units from CHP, searched the area of the suspect vehicle but were unable to locate it, the Sheriff's Office reported. "Detectives have since followed up on the investigation, collecting evidence, obtaining witness statements and canvassing the area for surveillance video," the Sheriff's Office said Monday afternoon. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has video from the area around Bell Road and Highway 49 between 1:30-2:30 p.m. on March 28 is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 530-886-5375.
