Roseville approves $2M for 5 stoplights on Westbrook

Roseville is putting up five stoplights along Westbrook Boulevard this summer due to rapid growth in the Sierra Vista neighborhood. The Roseville City Council approved plans March 18 for the $2.16 million project to signalize five intersections along the north-south corridor of Westbrook. The traffic lights will go up at Solaire Drive, Earl Rush Drive, Nicole Gee Drive, Vista Grande Boulevard and Sierra Garden Boulevard, staff said. West Roseville has undergone rapid development over the past 5-10 years, authorities said. "In addition to thousands of new housing units, there are several large retail centers, schools and a regional soccer complex that have opened or will be opening within the next few years," said Roseville Engineer Brian Gulewich in his council report. Construction is planned for summer and fall. The project is funded through the traffic mitigation fund with no general funds used, authorities said. City public works staff will also work closely with the public affairs and communications team to keep citizens and stakeholders informed. The project is estimated to cost $2,160,000. Once the actual construction costs are known, a budget adjustment may be recommended later to cover additional costs. The traffic signals were previously pegged in the Sierra Vista plan, so no new environmental study is required, said Jason Shykowski, Public Works Director.
