Woman indicted for fatal DUI crash in El Dorado Hills

An alleged DUI driver has been indicted on murder, manslaughter and other charges for a traffic collision that killed an 84-year-old woman and injured two children in El Dorado Hills last year. The El Dorado County District Attorney's Office reports a grand jury indicted Cheyanne Wright, 35, of Cameron Park for the incident that happened on May 3, 2025, on Green Valley Road near Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills. The victim who was killed, 84-year-old Joan Allison, was driving her Camry at 7:50 a.m. when her car was hit by Wright, who was driving under the influence. Wright also had her two children in the car, ages 7 and 3, who were injured. As a result, Wright was also charged with two counts of child endangerment, according to the El Dorado County DA's Office. "This is a devastating and entirely preventable tragedy," said DA Vern Pierson. "An innocent life was lost, and two children were placed in harm's way because of a decision to drive under the influence. Our office remains committed to holding impaired drivers accountable and protecting our community from the deadly consequences of DUI." The case was investigated by the CHP, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Coroner Unit and UC Davis Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the El Dorado County DA's Office's felony DUI unit with support from a traffic safety grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. Wright was charged with murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury and two counts of child endangerment; she is scheduled to be arraigned April 3 in El Dorado County Superior Court.
