Navy League continues to focus on youth

Placer County Council of the Navy League members and guests will meet and hear from several of their sponsored youth groups at their next meeting on April 20: the Sea Cadets of the Sacramento Division, the Shasta Division of Redding, the Mathew Axelson Division of Yuba City, the Golden Bear Division of Chico and the Ticonderoga Division of Sacramento. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a congressionally chartered, nonprofit youth organization for young men and women aged 10-18. It is supported by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard and aims to build character, leadership and maritime skills, including seamanship, aviation and STEM. Membership does not require further military service. Dinner meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Auburn Veterans Memorial Hall, 100 East St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a social hour, followed by dinner and the meeting at 6:30. The catered dinners are $22 per person, so reservations are necessary and may be made by calling Bonnie Potter at 530-823-2820 by Friday, April 17. The Placer County Council of the Navy League of the United States is a national civilian organization that supports the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and U.S. Flag Merchant Marine. In addition to its more than 200 individual members, the council is supported by three local Community Affiliate Members: TGH Aviation, Lassila Funeral Chapel and Chapel of the Hills.
