Placer County Water Agency releases 2025 Annual Report

The Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) has released its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of continued investment in infrastructure, responsible stewardship of a community-owned water system and regional collaboration across Placer County. "Customers depend on us every day, and this report helps connect that experience to the work happening behind the scenes," said PCWA General Manager Andy Fecko. "It reflects the planning, great service and people it takes to operate and maintain a system like this for the long term." The report is presented in an interactive digital format, making it easy for customers to explore projects and financials in a clear and accessible way. Key highlights from the report include: • Infrastructure Investment & Renewal: $17.7 million invested through PCWA's Renewal and Replacement Program, including construction progress on the Colfax Water Treatment Plant replacement, one of the agency's largest current capital projects. • Recreation and environmental improvements: As required under PCWA's federal license, upgrades to Middle Fork Project facilities included improvements to campsites, boat launches and picnic areas, along with dam modifications that improve fish habitat and stream conditions. Funded through project revenues, these investments benefit the community and the environment. • Community education and partnerships: In response to early-season wildfire events, PCWA expanded outreach to help customers better understand how the water system supports fire response and community safety. The agency also launched the Water for Our Future campaign, a regional collaboration, to build awareness of infrastructure investment and long-term water reliability for the people of Placer County. The report also highlights a key trend: While the number of customers continues to grow, overall water use has remained relatively steady, reflecting increased efficiency and responsible management of local water resources. New this year, the report includes an "Impact" section highlighting a decade of results and how long-term investments have shaped water service across Placer County. Examples include: • Maintaining 100-percent water supply reliability from its American River water rights through two record-breaking droughts. • Meeting state conservation requirements without added cost pressures to customers while providing more than $700,000 in rebates. • Securing more than $30 million in state funding to support small and failing water systems across Placer County. • Advancing major regional water supply projects, including the Colfax-to-Applegate Regionalization Program and RiverArc. • Launching large-scale forest restoration efforts to reduce wildfire risk and protect water quality.
