Folsom-based nonprofit receives $328K state grant

A Folsom-based nonprofit and City of Folsom partner is expanding opportunities for local youth thanks to a new state grant. Clipped In For Life has been awarded $328,796 to grow its cycling programs after reaching more than 1,500 youth last year. The funding, provided through the California Natural Resources Agency's Youth Community Access Grant Program, will support six one-week Summer Ride Camps serving 160 youth from underserved communities. The program helps participants discover cycling, build skills and explore the outdoors. Each camper will receive a mountain bike, helmet, lock and tools to keep. Participants will also learn riding skills, traffic safety, trail etiquette, navigation, nutrition, hydration and first aid while exploring Folsom's natural and cultural resources. Clipped In For Life began as a grassroots effort in Folsom and continues to bring the community together through cycling events, youth programs and local initiatives. "Clipped In for Life's mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to find achievement, adventure and connection through cycling and other athletic activities – thus, helping improve lives and bring communities together," says the organization on its website. "From our perspective, cycling is a lifestyle. Its impact reaches beyond the race course and into everyday life with physical and mental health benefits, quality time with loved ones, transportation and more.
