PG&E breaks ground for Lincoln substation

PG&E ceremonially broke ground last week on the construction of its Momentum substation located on 3945 Thimble Court in Lincoln. This location will serve future growth in Placer County, including a senior living center and satellite campuses for Sierra Community College and California State University, Sacramento. Guest speakers Joe Wilson, vice president of PG&E's North Valley and Sierra Region; Cherri Spriggs, Placer Business Alliance; Shanti Landon, Placer County Board of Supervisors chair; Clifton Taylor of Taylor Builders, Sierra College President Willy Duncan and Tania Nunez of CSU Sacramento individually honored and recognized the men and women of PG&E who are dedicated to serving and helping Placer County grow. PG&E is investing in the electric grid to support the community as it grows and electrification (electric vehicles, all-electric households) expands. This substation will improve reliability for existing customers and help meet future demands to serve more than 5,600 homes and businesses, with the first transformer energized in December 2027 and a second in December 2028. California's 3rd District representative Kevin Kiley awarded PG&E Director of Local Government Relations John Costa with a proclamation, signifying and honoring the efforts and community-driven achievements made by PG&E. Members of the local Congress and guest speakers broke ground, shoveling the first load of dirt to mark the start of construction. Completion of the Momentum substation is expected by March 2028.
