Folsom hires contractor for Livermore Park work

City officials awarded a $1.1 million contract Tuesday for a parking lot and trail at Livermore Community Park in Folsom. Livermore Park on Riley Street is "an enormous athletic and recreation hub," the Parks & Recreation Dept. says online. The ball diamonds, volleyball courts, soccer and football fields are home to several Folsom youth teams. The park also offers party-sized pavilions, play structures and a mini water park. Phase V pegs a parking lot for the remaining 1.6 acres of undeveloped parkland at Riley and McAdoo Drive, staff said. The master plan for the area includes two lighted sports courts to host basketball, tennis and pickleball, staff said. The plan is rounded out by concrete walkways, new parking lots, lighting, bike trail extension, trees, shrubs and open irrigated turf, according to the report. The City Council agreed April 14 to award low bidder Frontline General Engineering a roughly $1.1 million contract for parking lot and associated improvements. The plan is for a 62-stall parking lot with a Class I Trail around it. The remaining amenities in Phase V – specifically the lighted sports courts and a small parking lot off Riley Street – will be considered at a later date, according to the report. The additional recreational facilities and parking are necessary to continue to meet the community recreation goal of five acres per 1,000 persons, staff explained. The city awarded an $80,965 design contract to Roach & Campbell for engineering and design services for the project in 2023.
