Lincoln police sweep tobacco retailers during compliance inspection

The Lincoln Police Department conducted a tobacco retailer compliance inspection last week at local businesses under the authority of California Business and Professions Code. "On April 9, the Lincoln Police Department, in partnership with the California Department of Public Health and the Rocklin Police Department, conducted tobacco retailer inspections at three local businesses under the California Business and Professions Code," police stated. As a result of the operation, officers and partner agencies seized more than 130 flavored vape products believed to be in violation of the Business and Professions Code. Investigators also seized a variety of cannabis products, flavored tobacco products, and psilocybin infused candy, all believed to be in violation of California law. Officers also discovered Kratom-derived or synthetic adulterated food and beverage products, which were destroyed on site by a business representative. These store inspections are part of Lincoln Police's ongoing commitment to protecting the health and safety of the community, especially youth and teenagers. In previous city council meetings and police station visits, the Lincoln Police Department has received concerns from parents regarding underage access to prohibited tobacco- and vape-related products. "Wow thank you so much, that's what I was worried about when I'm watching my community deteriorate. Brave work from the boys in blue!" Tanner Michael Lee commented. "I'm so happy to see this, folks in my community have been victims of Kratom addiction. All of the smoke shops in our area still carry it, despite the law being in place, I went in and asked one of the owners why it's still there and he said they would get away with it, and had gotten away with selling it in the past," Don Frank commented. "The new Kratom extracts are exceptionally addictive, people I know are going broke, it's very expensive, but more importantly they are having liver damage and mental health issues, why is this stuff still out there?" Lincoln Police said, "We take these concerns very seriously, and we will continue working with our public health and law enforcement partners to ensure businesses comply with the state law and to help keep these products out of the hands of minors."
