Upcoming golf event raises key funds for Roseville STEAM programs

A golf tournament that aims to not only be fun but raise money for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) and music education programs is coming up in May. The Roseville City School District Foundation (RCSDF) invites the community to its 5th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, May 18, at Sierra View Country Club. Organizers say this event raises critical funds to support STEAM in the Roseville City School District. Last year's tournament reportedly raised nearly $30,000, and that momentum made a real difference in classrooms across the district. This year, the Foundation aims to go even further. Teachers submitted more Partners in Education (PIE) grant applications than the Foundation was able to fund, and the goal of the 2026 tournament is to close that gap so more students benefit next school year. "The response from our teachers tells us everything we need to know. The demand for hands-on STEAM and music resources is growing, and our community has the power to meet it," said Foundation President Lou Catalano. "Last year, we raised nearly $30,000, and these dollars went straight into classrooms. This year, our goal is to make sure no worthy PIE grant goes unfunded." PIE grants put learning tools directly into the hands of educators and students, from STEM Snap Circuits and light tables to field trips that bring lessons to life. Music education also plays a vital role, with research showing students who study music score 20 percent higher in math and reading.
