Yoga on the Pitch slated for May 1

If anyone is looking for a fun evening out and you've always wanted to try some yoga, you might want to check out Yoga on the Pitch, a free sunset yoga event to be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 1, on the field at the Folsom Lake College track. This is a free event that last year brought about 200 people and will be even bigger this year. The event serves as a fundraiser for the athletic programs at the college, as people are encouraged to make a donation when they enter. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 p.m. to sign-up for the yoga which begins at 6 p.m. "As the women's soccer coach at Folsom Lake College and a proud member of our athletic department, I want to sincerely thank our community for the incredible support of Yoga on the Pitch," Donny Ribaudo said. "Events like this remind us how fortunate we are to be surrounded by people and local businesses who believe in giving back, promoting wellness, and investing in student-athletes. We are especially excited to partner with Spotted Dog Yoga to create a fun and energizing evening centered around movement, connection, and health. With so many outstanding community partners joining us, this event reflects the positive spirit of Folsom and the power of coming together for something meaningful." The event will be presented by Spotted Dog Yoga, recently voted Best Yoga Studio in Folsom, and led by Nick Clark, co-founder of Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP. Known for his high-energy instruction, Clark blends athletic performance with his signature motto: "Play Hard, Love Big. Live Spotted." "It's a free yoga class where people are asked to make a donation to support Folsom Lake College's athletic program," Clark said. "We're a big sponsor of the college and we hope to get as many people as we can to come out and support the college. We want to raise money and awareness of all the great things the college is doing for the student-athletes and the Folsom community." Clark has been teaching yoga for the last 15 years and invites all levels, including people who have never tried yoga before. "Beginners are definitely invited," Clark said. "They will be able to do the yoga because we do it at a pace that people can learn it and do it. Bring your kids out too. It's a fun environment and we have a DJ out there playing music too. "Yoga is really just movement. It's learning how to move your body so that it feels good. Every pose is adaptable to your skill level. There's no right or wrong way to do it; people can just do it in a way that works best for them. It's not just for flexible girls; yoga is for everyone." The class will be between an hour and an hour and 15 minutes long. All athletes from the college's nine sports teams will be at this event participating and volunteering. Organizers say the event is designed to bring the community together for movement, connection and promote wellness and to also support Folsom Lake College athletics. Vendors at this event will include Spotted Dog Yoga, MAC PT, Victory Performance, Solor Dudes, Dry Leaf, Rising Stars Soccer, Folsom Lake Surf, Folsom Lake CrossFit, Venture Wild Paddleboards, Back to Health Chiropractic, DJ Juju, Courtside Tennis, Leap Yoga, Soul Spark Coffee, Kiwi Kones, Citrus Society and My Kids Dentist.
