Placer Veterans Stand Down returns in May

Placer Veterans Stand Down is preparing to host its annual multi-day event at @the Grounds in Roseville, offering a comprehensive suite of free services to U.S. military veterans and their families. Modeled after the Vietnam-era concept of providing exhausted combat troops a safe place to rest and recover, the modern "Stand Down" serves as a critical intervention for veterans facing housing instability, health challenges or difficulty navigating benefits. The event is open to all veterans, legal spouses and children. Veteran ID (DD214, VA Card, etc.) is required for entry. The main service days are Tuesday and Wednesday, May 5-6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early check-in is Monday, May 4, from 4-6 p.m. (includes dinner and optional overnight accommodations). All services are provided free of charge and include: · Healthcare: Dental, medical and vision clinics (available Tuesday and Wednesday only). · Personal care: Hot meals, haircuts, showers, clothing and personal care supplies. · Professional support: VA benefit assistance, legal services (for Placer County residents) and employment/housing referrals. · Wellness: PTSD counseling, Health & Human Services assistance and integrative health services. · Pet care: Veterinarian exams, vaccinations and supplies for the animal companions of veterans. To ensure a smooth experience, veterans are encouraged to pre-register online or by calling 916-251-9249. The community is also invited to participate. As an all-volunteer nonprofit, PVSD relies on the generosity of local residents and professionals.
