Vista, Folsom have medalists at Sac Meet of Champions

Vista del Lago's track and field team turned in some fine performances at the Sacramento Meet of Champions held on Saturday. The Eagles had three athletes place in the top-six of the open division, competing against the best of the best. Kyron Gulley took second in the triple jump with a leap of 44 feet, 10 ¼ inches. Collin Lund placed third in the open 400 meters with a time of 48.68, and Brenna Mannion took sixth in the open 1,600 meters with a time of 4:58.33. The Eagles had three athletes place in the top-six in the varsity division. Lund took third in the 200 meters in 22.29, while Reid Blake also placed third in the 800 meters in 1:55.87. Madeline Hess placed fourth in the varsity discus with a throw of 119-07. Rocco Jerwers just missed a medal and placed seventh in the 3,200 meters in 9:38.31. Folsom High made its mark in the relays, earning medals in three of them, including a first-place finish in the varsity boys' 4x400 relay in 3:24.42. The team consisted of Nicolas Piper, Kenny Veverka, Callan Crebar and Zane Grabowski. The girls' 4x100-meter relay team of Grace Abello, Brynlee Hodson, Katie Fling and Jazelle Reed-Johnson placed third in the varsity division in 49.09. Meanwhile, the boys' 4x100-meter relay team of Justus Lockwood, Grabowski, Hayden Hoang and Piper took fifth in 43.31. Folsom's girls' 4x400-meter relay team just missed out on a medal by playing seventh in 4:10.38. Abello, Sofia Yasutake, Reed-Johnson and Hodson made up that team.
