Several Oak Ridge athletes earn medals at Meet of Champs

Twenty-five Oak Ridge athletes competed at the prestigious Sacramento Meet of Champions on Saturday at American River College. Athletes throughout northern California and Nevada competed at this meet. The Oak Ridge track and field athletes put in tremendous efforts. Below are Oak Ridge athletes that finished in the top-six in their event to receive a medal. Adriana Ingargiola was Oak Ridge's lone winner, as she won the 3,200 meters in 10 minutes, 47.79 seconds, her second-fastest time ever. Ingargiola made a bold move with 800 meters to go and separated from the pack to win by three seconds. Her teammate, Giuliana Martino, placed fifth in the same race with a nine-second personal-best time of 10:51.09. It's the second-fastest time ever run by a sophomore girl at Oak Ridge. Chase Fontana placed second in the open 100-meter dash, as he posted a time of 10.89. Maya Day took third place in the open 800 meters with a time of 2:16.44, a personal-best time by three seconds. Day also took fifth place in the open 1,600 meters with an eight-second personal-best time of 5:02.57. Day achieved two significant personal-best times within a two-hour period. Alex Castro placed fifth in the open shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 6 inches. Oak Ridge also had two relay teams do well. The varsity boys 4x100-meter team of Suhnny Bernardi, Demarco Patterson, Mason Landrum and Chase Fontana placed fifth overall in 42.13. While the varsity boys' 4x400 relay team placed seventh, they matched their best time of the season with a 3:28.57. This team consisting of Cristian Rudnick, Dylan Lange, Ben Gutierrez and Parker Lange is made up of freshman and sophomores.
