Rising Stars Soccer offers tryout clinic

Folsom Lake College's women's soccer coaches Donny Ribaudo and Pat Powers have recently started a business called Rising Stars Soccer. As if the two don't spend enough time coaching at the collegiate level, they're now diving into the younger age group. "We focus on providing high-quality training for local athletes, with an emphasis on layering concepts and teaching the game through innovative, player-centered approaches," Ribaudo said. The duo are offering a clinic at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at Folsom Lake College called "Pre-Tryout Camp." The clinic is for boys and girls ages 9-12 and costs $35. "This is designed to help athletes better understand the tryout process, prepare for each phase, and learn how to stand out in front of coaches," Ribaudo said. Athletes can learn how to be ready to walk into soccer tryouts confident, prepared and ready to stand out. "Kids will learn the exact tryout format, understand how to approach each phase with confidence, discover what coaches are really looking for and get coached on how to separate themselves from the competition," Ribaudo said. As a bonus, parents are invited to a live Q&A session with Ribaudo and Powers to better understand the process and expectations. This clinic is designed to give players a clear edge heading into tryouts so that players can show up for tryouts prepared, not guessing.
