Folsom sweeps Whitney, splits first two games with Del Oro

Folsom ended last week with a two-game sweep of Whitney, as they improved their record in the Sierra Foothill League to 9-6. The Bulldogs defeated Whitney on the road on Thursday, 6-3. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning and tacked on four more in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Blake Sargent had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the team. Alex Blount had three hits and a run batted in; Manny Orange had two hits and drove in a run, while Michael Callahan had two hits. Caden Heitmeyer threw the first five innings and allowed three runs on six hits, but Blount finished the last two innings and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard to earn the save. In Friday's 10-0 win at home, Will Dreussi allowed only one hit and walked only two in Folsom's win in six innings. Seven different Bulldogs had hits in the game, as Gavin Teitz led the way with two. Teitz also scored twice and drove in a run. Angelo Orozco had two RBIs, while Callahan, Jack Blinn, Blount, Devin Schuster, and Braden Martinez also picked up RBIs. "It was the most complete series we have played this season," Folsom coach Sal Rivera said. "We had great outings by our starters, Caden Heitmeyer in Game 1 and Alex Blount got the close. William Dreussi was electric in Game 2 and tossed a one-hitter. Our hitters did a great job swinging the bats, moving runners and executing our offense. Defensively, we took care of the ball and played solid behind our pitchers. "We look to build off this series and continue to play our best baseball down the stretch." Folsom split its first two games against Del Oro this week, losing 12-8 on Monday before winning 6-1 on Tuesday. The final game of the season is on the road on Thursday.
