Roseville to hold annual Bikefest free fair Saturday

The public is invited to bring a bicycle and helmet to Roseville's 33rd annual family Bikefest this Saturday, May 2. The free bicycle safety event from 9 a.m. until noon at Vernon Street Town Square. Visitors can enjoy a bike obstacle course, a safety show (including education on e-bikes), helmet fittings, bicycle safety checks from local shops and food carts. Kids attending get free helmets, prizes while supplies last and a chance to win a bicycle. Roseville's vast network of bike lanes and trails helps the city achieve silver status as a bike-friendly city, recognized by the League of American Bicyclists. With a significant, sustained commitment to improving bike conditions, the designation means Roseville has moved well beyond planning and is building infrastructure with support education programs, staff said. For example, the city recently finished the Dry Creek Greenway East Trail, with a grand opening May 9. Platinum local sponsors for the event include Chick-fil-A and Roseville Public Works. Gold sponsors include Dairy Queen, Roseville Kiwanis, Mike's Bikes of Roseville, Roller King, Roseville Bikes and Roseville Electric. Silver sponsors include Buzzardball DJ, Elks Lodge 2248 and Roseville Firefighters Local 1592. Bronze sponsors include Dino Coffee Bar, Old Town Pizza, Roseville Moose Lodge and the Bubble Hive.
