Rocklin's Mulch Mayhem event encourages sustainable landscaping

Mulch Mayhem, hosted by the Placer County Water Agency and San Juan Water District, returns to Rocklin next Saturday, May 16. Get free mulch for your yard on May 16 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (while supplies last). Bring a shovel, container or tarp and a means to haul it away. Mulch Mayhem will take place in the Sierra College Overflow parking lot at the corner of Rocklin Road and El Don Drive. "This free event helps customers save water, improve soil and protect plants with mulch for home landscape use as applying mulch to your yard helps retain moisture up to 30 gallons saved for every 1,000 square feet while adding nutrients and suppresses weeds, moderating soil temperature and enhancing curb appeal," PCWA commented. Free mulch is limited to one yard per household, enough to fill a pickup truck for personal use. Customers must bring their own shovels, containers, tarps or other items to cover the mulch and must provide their own way to haul it home.
