Vista golf team claims CVC title

Vista del Lago has another strong golf team this year as witnessed by the fourth straight league championship overall and second straight in the Capital Valley Conference. The team finished the league season with an 11-1 record and also won both league tournaments. On Wednesday, the Eagles defeated Christian Brothers, 185-205. Kenny Yang led the way with a 35 followed by Ryan O'Malley and Brody McWhirk, who shot 37s, while Julian Chang and Armaan Khan shot 38s. Max Stanger came in in 40 strokes. Vista's team consists of five seniors: Yang, O'Malley, Chang, McWhirk and Stanger; three juniors, Niko Sato, Marc Paracuelles and Nathan Levine and one sophomore, Khan. "It was very cool to see all the seniors play well in their final home match," Vista golf coach Miguel Rodriguez said. "We are headed to Chowchilla to play Pheasant Run for divisionals on May 5. The team is playing solid golf going into the playoffs so I'm expecting our season to continue."
