Folsom city leaders are positioning the region as the "Paddling Capital of the West" in a new campaign meant to raise awareness of the many opportunities the area offers for water enthusiasts, from stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and more. The campaign describes Folsom as offering something rare: two distinctly different paddling environments in one destination. Nestled within Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Lake Natoma features calm, protected riparian bordered waters with a 5 mph speed limit—ideal for beginners, families, and competitive paddlers. Just upstream, Folsom Lake opens into a broader, more dynamic setting for those seeking adventure, distance, and open-water exploration.
