Dry Creek Greenway trail grand opening May 9 in Roseville

The public is invited to celebrate the completion of the $30 million Phase 1 of the Dry Creek Greenway East Trail on Saturday morning, May 9. Families can enjoy the new two-mile, paved, multi-use pathway along several Roseville creeks. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the new trailhead at 645 Riverside Ave. Event highlights include: · Community booths for nature, safety and wellness tips. · Guided walks. · Kids Zone: Scavenger hunt, games, music and photo booth. · Celebrate Bike Month: Join the region and log rides to win prizes. Limited parking is available at Riverside. Additional parking can be found at nearby Saugstad Park, Royer Park and Downtown Roseville, city officials said. Visitors can then bike or walk south on the Miner's Ravine Trail, which becomes the Dry Creek Greenway Trail at Darling Way. The Dry Creek Greenway project is a four-mile trail along Linda, Cirby and Dry creeks. The greenway extends from Riverside Ave. and Darling Way at Cherry Glen to the city limits at South Cirby Way and Old Auburn Road. A preferred trail alignment was approved in 2019 after years of input dating to 2008 public meetings. The first phase from Darling Way to Rocky Ridge Drive began in early 2025. Phase 2 work on the trail is scheduled for next year, officials said. City staff says the trail offers a safe, comfortable, convenient and highly connected bike route through an older area of Roseville that is otherwise underserved by modern bicycle facilities. The trail will connect schools and businesses to residential neighborhoods with regional connections as part of the planned loop trail around the greater South Placer/Sacramento area, staff said.
