Folsom's 80th birthday community bash lives up to hype

As promised, the 80th birthday celebration for the city of Folsom was a fun-filled community affair with virtually something for everyone. There were a variety of performances on center stage, from live music to dance performances. There were also booths for people to visit where they could learn more about various organizations in the community such as The Folsom History booth, The Folsom Police Department, and of course The Folsom Telegraph was there handing out a special coloring book designed just for the event; the book featured drawings of spots in the community such as the lake and the miniature train. The Folsom Fire Department also had a fun obstacle course set up for children to experience with a grand finale of spraying a miniature house with a real fire hose (with help from firefighters). One of the marque events was the dunk tank and Folsom's Mayor Justin Raithel was one of the enthusiastic participants who received his share of dunks (which we captured in photographs). The long awaited snail races also made their re-emergence during the event after 35+ years; it was truly an event with a mix of history and present day fun. Now, on to the next 80 years.
