Auburn Racquet Club to introduce scholarship

The Auburn Racquet Club is introducing a $2,000 college scholarshipavailable to high school juniors and seniors in Auburn.The scholarship is designed to introduce the benefits of health and fitnessover a six-month period to junior and senior applicants. Selected applicantswill get a complimentary health club membership at Auburn Racquet andFitness Club. The participants will write a 2,000-word essay describingthose benefits and how the individual will share them with the community.The program begins Dec. 1 with a scholarship application process. Interestedapplicants will be interviewed to determine eligibility. Players who are new to the league must provide proof of residency anda birth certificate.Team managers and umpires are required to attend a no-cost clinic for theupcoming season.
