Roseville elementary school briefly on lockdown while police search for suspect in area

A Roseville elementary school was briefly on lockdown while police searched for a suspect who had been involved in a chase with police and CHP. Quail Glen Elementary School at 1250 Canavari Drive was put on lockdown at around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, after the suspect was spotted running into the backyard of a home near the school. The events began at around 8:10 a.m. Roseville PD said the CHP tried to make a traffic stop of the suspect but they fled. About 10 minutes later, Roseville residents called police about a car driving the wrong way on Foothills Blvd. Authorities determined the wrong-way driver was the same driver CHP was in pursuit of. Roseville PD found the car but when they attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver continued the chase and at one point hit several other vehicles. Eventually, the suspect got out of their car, fled on foot and hopped a fence into the backyard of a home near Quail Glen Elementary School. At about 8:50 a.m., Roseville PD asked school officials at Quail Glen Elementary School to go into a lockdown due to the suspect being near the campus. It wasn't long before police found the suspect. At 9 a.m., they were apprehended, detained and the school's lockdown was lifted. Roseville PD said at no point were the students and staff in danger, and all classes resumed regular school activities shortly after the lockdown was lifted.
