Lincoln boys track and field wins D4 title, multiple Zebras and Rhinos reach Masters

The Lincoln High School boys track and field capped off a banner performance at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Divisional Championships on Saturday, capturing the team title behind a balanced effort across sprints, distance races, relays and field events while advancing a large contingent to the Section Masters Meet. The Division IV section title added to a historic season for Lincoln's boys program, which finished undefeated in Pioneer Valley League dual meets for a second straight year while securing back-to-back league championships. The Fighting Zebras combined to break five school records this season and captured three individual section titles along with two runner-up finishes at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships. The Zebras were led by a championship performance in the boys 4x400 relay, where Massimo Biagi, Mahzi Fanny, Elijah Rhyne and Liam Gonzalez ran 3 minutes, 25.48 seconds to secure the Division IV title. Lincoln also earned key distance points in the 800 as Biagi placed second in 1:54.99 and Rhyne followed in third at 1:57.35. In the field events, Mason Volzer claimed a Division IV championship in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 6 1/4 inches. Scott Roycraft added a third-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12-6. Fanny played a major role throughout the meet, qualifying in multiple events. He placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.08, took third in the 300 hurdles at 41.46 and helped the 4x100 relay team of Volzer, Hayden Wilder, Fanny and Gavin Barraveccio finish sixth in 43.66. Jeremiah Anderson added fifth-place finishes in both the 110 hurdles (16.28) and high jump. Lincoln's girls also produced several Masters qualifiers. Rylan Loori led the way with runner-up honors in the 100 hurdles in 15.40 and a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles at 48.20. Taylor Butler finished second in the high jump after clearing 5-0. Twelve Bridges also turned in a strong performance across Division III competition, highlighted by standout efforts in the distance races and relays. Peter Kendall earned a runner-up finish in the boys 1600, running 4:11.32, while William Gant took third in the 400 at 49.43. Asesela Geka added a second-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 45-6 1/2 and later helped the Raging Rhinos place fifth in the 4x400 relay alongside Logan Waggoner, Geka, Gant and Omar Robinson Jr. On the girls side, Brooke Blume placed third in the 800 in 2:17.60 and later helped Twelve Bridges secure a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay. Isabella Durant, Amelia Oriel, Blume and Bailey Stanley combined to run 4:00.25. The Raging Rhinos also qualified in the girls 4x100 relay as Jasline Sarmiento, Oriel, Emma Brown and Stanley finished fourth in 49.79. Ava Nedresky added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, while Madelynn Smith took fourth in the high jump. The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet will be held Friday and Saturday at Folsom High School with top finishers advancing to the CIF State Championships.
