Rocklin Police: E-bike crashes down since implementing ban

The Rocklin Police Department has provided the community with an update regarding youth E-bike safety in town and the impact the Rocklin Unified School District Class 2 E-bike policy has had in 2026. In 2025, Rocklin experienced 21 collisions involving E-bike riders between the ages of 11 and 15. The district adopted the Class 2 E-bike ban for K-8 campuses in December 2025 and enforcement began on Feb. 2 this year. Since that date, police have had a 64-percent reduction in collisions involving 11- to 15-year-old E-bike riders, compared to the same time period last year. "The numbers do not lie, and the policy is clearly having a positive impact," said police. While the larger E-bike issue is not completely solved, there is still evening and weekend behavior, particularly in parking lots and parks that need to be addressed. "As we head into summer and eventually the start of the new school year this fall, this is also a good reminder that K-8 campuses within RUSD are 'Class 1 Only' (No Class 2, 3 scooters or motos) when it comes to e-transportation," police said.
