Groundbreaking Monday for Colfax Skatepark

A dream will become reality as the Colfax Skatepark will break ground on Monday, June 8. "This project has taken over 10 years of community vision, dedication, partnerships, fundraising and hard work to become reality, and now it's finally happening," the Colfax California Skatepark shared on Facebook. According to the skate park's Facebook, construction efforts began at the end of May with Teichert Construction clearing the lot and digging for a drainage pipe. Additionally, a dirt parade was held Wednesday to move more than 400 yards of dirt to the site that will be placed in various locations of the park. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the skate park site, which is the old pool site next to the baseball field across from the Colfax Lions Kids Park. In honor of the groundbreaking, Colfax California Skatepark shared The Home Depot donated the ceremonial shovels that will be used Monday. "With many of our sponsors and partners attending, we wanted to make sure each of them received a commemorative shovel as a keepsake to recognize their contribution to this project," the skate park shared. According to the skate park, construction is anticipated to take 2½ months with the grand opening targeted for mid-August. "We can't wait to celebrate this milestone with all of you," Colfax California Skatepark said.
