Roseville Marlins claim Dist. 54 Intermediate title

The Roseville Marlins only needed to win two games to be champions of the District 54 Little League Intermediate Division. After beating Lakeside 11-2 on June 7, the Marlins blanked the Folsom National Braves 15-0 on June 11 to win the tournament. The win brought the Marlins' record to 10-5-1 on the season. "These kids worked hard the whole year," Roseville manager Jason Blessinger said. "They had a great time. They've been playing forever and I love them all. All these boys just compete as hard as they can." The Marlins scored in all four innings, scoring twice in the first and once in the second before breaking the game wide open with seven runs in the third inning. The Marlins finished the scoring with five runs in the fourth. Brady Wilson and Colton Blessinger both had two hits, a double and a triple, while Wilson drove in three runs and Blessinger knocked in two. Zach Shelton also doubled and Luke Malberg tripled. Shelton had two RBIs, while Malberg had one. Cole Bellotti had one hit and drove in three, while Callen Lauchner also had a hit and knocked in two runs. Meanwhile, pitchers Bellotti (three innings) and Mason Dosier (one inning) combined to throw a no-hitter. "The strength of this team is they all play together," Blessinger said. "They all like to play every position they can possibly play, too. They're all unselfish. They play where they need to play and then when they get up to bat they know what they're supposed to do."
