Law Tigers widen lead in Team Challenge at Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway

Week four provided another great night of racing at Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn. Highlighting the full program on June 12 was round two of the Team Challenge. Team Law Tigers built their lead over Team IFC to 23-13. Team Law Tigers outscored Team IFC 11-7 in round two. Billy Janniro, Darren Armbruster and Russell Green all had first-place finishes for Team Law Tigers, earning three points each, and Justin Almon, up from Southern California for the first time this season, had two points with a second-place finish. Team IFC didn't win any of the three heats, but Broc Nicol and Timmy Dion picked up second-place finishes, gathering two points each. Daniel Faria, Greg Moore and Catherine Moore each had a third-place finish for one point each. The interesting aspect of the Team Challenge is that riders work together in pairs and help each other instead of the traditional every man for themselves mentality. The teams meet six times throughout the season, accumulating points in each round leading to a final showdown on Aug. 14. Riders enjoy the unique format, and fans dig seeing the racers work together blocking and helping each other score points. It's all scratch starts with two riders from each team in each heat. Broc Nicol won the scratch main event, his third of the young season. Nicol made it look easy with wins in his first heat race and semifinal. He faced Almon, Faria and Green in the main event. Nicol got an exceptional gate and led the entire race. Almon was tenacious, making hard charges, but Nicol used the skills that made him an AMA national speedway champion to take the checkered flag. Almon was second, Green was third and Faria, who had mechanical issues on the last lap, pushed his bike over the finish line for fourth. Anthony Dion won his first main event of the season in the handicap feature. Dion races each night with brother Timmy Dion in Division I and father Tim Dion in the Support Class. Anthony Dion, who rides off the zero line, had a fourth-place finish in his heat race and recovered with a win in his semifinal. Anthony Dion led all the way in the main event with Moore second, also off the zero line. Moore gave Dion a challenge for four laps in the six-lap feature until Almon passed into second place. That was the finishing order in the main event. Dion might be looking to start on the 10-yard line going forward. Marc Denniston, back at Fast Fridays following a two-year break, won the Support Division D-2 main event. Denniston was perfect with wins in his heats also. Mike Newnham was second and Moore was third. Cody Baugh also picked up his first win of the season in the Support D-3 main. Sean McAndrew was second and Jeff Schoenstein was third. Baugh did not finish in his first heat race but recovered and won his second heat. Wesley Rearick continues to turn in strong performances in the Youth 250cc D-1 division and won his third consecutive main event. He had an aggressive challenge from younger brother Riley Rearick in all three of his races. Riley Rearick was second in the main event and Caden Cavrikas was third. Leeann Emerson won her third andsecond in row main event in the Youth 250cc D-2 division. Emerson won her first heat race and second in her second heat. Colton Cooper finished second in the feature and Baylee Evans-Seeley was third. Mason Howell topped the Youth 150ccD-1 main event. Liam Falcon was second and Brady Wills was third. It was Howell's second win this season. Chance Farrow took the Youth 150cc D-2 main event, also his second of the season. Gavin Evans-Seeley was second and Ryder Faria was third. Luke Seeger won the Youth 150cc D-3 main event. Kaiden Boyd-Bews presented a challenge but fell in the pursuit on the last lap. Kaydence Craw was second and Mason Latham was third. Legends and Vintage Night is this Friday, June 19. Billy "The Bullet" Hamill will be honored for his racing accomplishments, and riders on vintage speedway bikes will put on a throwback racing exhibition.
