Roseville reaches D54 50-70 championship game

In three games, the Roseville 50-70 All-Star Team has outscored opponents 48-3 on their way to the championship game. That makes them the favorite to win the District 54 championship Friday when they face either Hangtown, Lakeside or Ponderosa at Ponderosa Little League in Cameron Park. Roseville has already beaten Lakeside 10-0 on June 19 and Ponderosa 18-0 on Tuesday night. Roseville, as their game scores indicate, can rake the ball and they did so right from the very start against Ponderosa, scoring seven runs in the first inning. They did so with some pop, as six of their eight hits went for extra bases, as they hit five doubles, one triple and two singles. Colton Blessinger had an RBI triple, while Cole Bellotti, Joseph Garcia, Callen Lauchner and Drew Backfish had RBI doubles. Brady Wilson also doubled, while Lukas Chambers hit an RBI single and Uriah Martin drove in a run on a ground out. Kaden Krolikowski also had a single in the inning. Though they scored nine more runs, they didn't need any more, as Bellotti allowed no hits through four innings, striking out 10 against one walk. Garcia pitched the last inning. Roseville scored three more times in the second inning to quickly get to the 10-run threshold. Martin had an RBI double, while Bellotti and Krolikowski had RBI singles. Roseville tacked on one more run in the fourth on a Ponderosa error before scoring seven runs in the fifth. Lauchner and Bellotti drove in two runs each, while Garrett Rios, Zach Skelton and Wilson each knocked in one run. "We just wanted these guys to take care of business," Roseville manager Dan Wilson said. "Throw strikes and let your fielders play catch. We work really hard in practice. I'm really proud of how they had good at bats and were really patient. They squared a lot of balls and went station to station. From top to bottom we can hit; that is our strength for sure. We're also super fast on the basepaths and we've got seven guys who can throw really hard."
