Navy League to welcome senator, assemblyman

Placer County Council of the Navy League members and guests will hear from governmental duo District 6 State Sen. Roger Niello and District 5 State Assemblyman Joe Patterson at its next meeting on Monday, July 20. In an interview with Gold Mountain California News Media in May, Niello said as a former CPA, he focuses on the math and long-term fiscal impact of issues. He sees affordability as the largest issue concerning voters in the November election and has several plans for addressing this. Patterson, a lifelong Californian, educated at Sacramento State and with post-graduate work at the Jesse M. Unruh Assembly Fellowship, balances his previous experience, first as a legislative staffer, then as a small business owner with his current public position and a busy family life. The Placer County Council of the Navy League of the United States is a national civilian organization that supports the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and U.S. Flag Merchant Marine. The Placer County Council has been serving the Sea Services and local community since 1956. In addition to its 200-plus individual members, the council is supported by three local Community Affiliate Members: TGH Aviation, Lassila Funeral Chapel and Chapel of the Hills. Dinner meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Auburn Veterans' Memorial Hall, 100 East Street. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a social hour, followed by dinner and the meeting at 6:30. The catered dinners are $22 per person, so reservations are necessary and may be made by calling Bonnie Potter at 530-823-2820 by Friday, July 17.
