Overnight search for domestic violence suspect ends in haystack

A man was arrested July 12 in relation to a domestic violence incident after he was found hiding in a large haystack in a barn in rural Lincoln. On the evening of Saturday, July 11, Placer County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a woman screaming for help. The Sheriff's Office confirmed deputies determined the woman had been assaulted, and the suspect fled before deputies arrived. A search was initiated, continuing through the night, and the investigation determined the suspect was likely hiding near his residence, either on his property or in the outbuildings of a neighboring property. The Sheriff's Office reported the Special Enforcement Team was called in on Sunday morning, with a focus on a nearby property after the suspect's home was cleared. The suspect, identified as Adam Isaiah Armbruster, 29, was found in the haystack shortly before 2 p.m. with the use of a drone. The Sheriff's Office confirmed Armbruster climbed down from the haystack and surrendered without incident once he knew he had been discovered. Armbruster was arrested for felony domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Placer County Jail and was released from custody on July 12 after posting bail.
