El Dorado Hills wins second game of state tournament

El Dorado Hills Major League All-Stars have won their first two games of the state tournament. After beating Mill Valley, 12-5, on Saturday, EDH got by host Chico Central on Sunday, 6-5. In a game tied 1-1, El Dorado Hills scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jake Trier led off with a single, followed by a walk by Brady Gill following an RBI single off the bat of Wilson Center. Gill and Center scored on wild pitches before the team's final run of the inning came in on a CJ Ard single. Game over, right? Wrong! Chico Central's first three batters in the top of the sixth inning reached base with a single, double, and a single, to make the score 5-2 while chasing pitcher JJ Filippini from the game in favor of EDH ace George Bergamo. Bergamo had no luck either, as he gave up a pair of doubles that tied the game at five. With the go-head run on third base, Bergamo got the final out of the inning on a ground out to second baseman Colton Cage. EDH then won the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, Logan Reichard walked and Bergamo singled to put runners at the corners. Filippini then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Reichard and give El Dorado Hills the 6-5 victory. El Dorado Hills took a 1-0 lead in the game in the bottom of the third inning on a home run by Gabe Lancaster, before Chico tied the game in the top of the fourth. The win pushed El Dorado Hills into the championship game of the winner's bracket on Tuesday.
