Teens in West Roseville caught illegally riding e-Motorcycles, vehicles seized

The eMotorcycles of two teens riding belligerently in West Roseville were seized by authorities recently, as officials continue their attempt at cracking down on illegal use of these vehicles by local youth. The Placer County Sheriff's Office said on July 14, a deputy patrolling in West Roseville saw two teens riding eMotorcycles at high speeds with disregard to the public's safety of pedestrians and motorists through the Heritage Placer Vineyards neighborhood. When the teens spotted the deputy, they tried to take off but ultimately stopped near Baseline Road and Stargazer Road without further incident, according to Sheriff's officials. Both eMotorcycles were towed, and their parents were called to pick them up. In a social media post, Placer County Sheriff's officials expressed the need for safety when youth are using these potentially dangerous e-vehicles. "E-bikes can be a great way for kids to explore, get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. But we also can't look the other way when kids are illegally riding eMotorcycles or putting themselves and others at risk," said Sheriff's officials. "We continue to hear from parents who say they didn't realize the eMotorcycle their child was riding was not legal. Before you buy your child an e-bike or eMotorcycle, know what you're buying. Learn the different classes of e-bikes, understand the difference between an e-bike and an eMotorcycle, and know the laws that apply."
