Bear sightings reported in Roseville

A bear was reportedly sighted several times in Roseville on Tuesday; this comes after a similar bear sighting was also reported in Rocklin. The most recent sighting was reported in the area of Foothills Boulevard between Pleasant Grove and Blue Oaks boulevards on Tuesday. Roseville Police say they received similar reports from other people in the area earlier in the evening. While they can't confirm this yet, police say they suspect the bear sighting in Roseville is related to the sightings in Rocklin. Earlier on Tuesday, Rocklin Police received calls about a bear sighting near homes in the Skyline area. Rocklin police reportedly notified the Department of Fish and Wildlife about that sighting. Police said while bear sightings are uncommon in Roseville, they can happen as wildlife travels in search of food and water. Roseville Police have several officers in the area as well as an animal control officer conducting area checks and communicating with Department of Fish and Wildlife on next steps. There are no reports of injuries and police say they do not have a visual range of the bear at this time, they are simply searching for it. Police say there are safety tips to follow should you spot a bear: Keep your distance and never approach it. Do not feed or attempt to attract the bear. Secure garbage, pet food and other food sources. Keep pets on a leash and supervise them outdoors. If you see a bear, give it plenty of space and allow it to move on. If the bear is behaving aggressively or poses an immediate threat to public safety, call 911.
