Community outreach meeting planned for Briggs Ranch residents

Folsom city officials have scheduled a community outreach meeting to discuss the future of district-funded neighborhood services in Briggs Ranch. The Briggs Ranch Landscaping and Lighting District is one of 30 landscaping and lighting districts in the City of Folsom. The district helps fund maintenance of neighborhood improvements that benefit properties within the district, which may include landscaping, irrigation, trails, walls, fences, entry features, signage, lighting, and related maintenance activities. The annual assessment of $122.28 per single-family home has not increased since 1989 and city officials say that amount no longer covers the district's maintenance and operating costs. Rising costs for labor, materials, utilities, and aging infrastructure have resulted in a long-term funding shortfall. Community Outreach The City of Folsom is beginning a community outreach process to better understand the priorities of Briggs Ranch property owners and residents and discuss the future of district-funded neighborhood services. The city is seeking input about service priorities, maintenance needs, and preferred ways to receive information about the district. A community outreach meeting will be held: *Thursday, August 27 *6 p.m. *Folsom City Hall, Council Chambers *50 Natoma Street City staff will provide information about the district, its current financial condition, and the services it funds. Property owners and residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback about neighborhood priorities and maintenance needs. What's Next Feedback gathered through the community outreach process will help the city better understand community priorities and evaluate options for the district moving forward.
