Folsom PD detective receives top honor

A Folsom Police Department detective is receiving high praise after being inducted into the 2026 Third Congressional District's Police Honor Roll. Detective Austin Alvarez serves on the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, where he works to identify and hold accountable people who exploit and prey upon children, according to the Folsom PD. In a social media post, the PD explained that these investigations are complex, time-consuming and often involve deeply disturbing evidence, and said Alvarez handled them all with grace. "Detective Alvarez consistently approaches this challenging work with professionalism, compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the victims and pursuing justice," said Folsom PD. "His efforts have directly contributed to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of offenders while helping protect vulnerable victims from further harm. His dedication and specialized expertise have made a meaningful impact not only on individual cases, but on the broader effort to keep children safe." Congressman Kevin Kiley recently recognized Alvarez on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for his service as well.
