Body of missing Roseville man found Tuesday

The Placer County Sheriff's Office reported Ian Roberts, 24, of Roseville was found deceased on Tuesday. Search and rescue efforts were focused in the American River Canyon, as Roberts was last known to be in the area of Overlook Park in Auburn the mid-morning hours on Friday, Aug. 21. Around 4:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, the Roseville Police Department received a missing person report that Roberts had not returned home the night before. With the assistance of Roberts' family, his vehicle was tracked and located at the skate park in Auburn. The Sheriff's Office reported Roberts' was located in the Auburn State Recreation area within Auburn city limits. At this time, there is no indication of foul play, and it is believed Roberts slipped and fell down a step embankment. The Sheriff's Office confirmed the Auburn Police Department will be investigating the circumstances surrounding Roberts' death. "We extend our deepest condolences to Ian's family and are grateful for their kindness and support throughout the search efforts," the Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
