Lodi man arrested after short pursuit in Placer County

A Lodi man was arrested Thursday afternoon after leading officers on a short pursuit in west Placer County. Placer County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle near Industrial and Athens avenues just after 11 a.m. The Sheriff's Office reported the driver failed to stop, leading to the pursuit down Industrial Avenue. According to the Sheriff's Office, the pursuit ended near Galilee Road when the driver, identified as Tommy Joe Villarreal, 35, drove across a parking lot and over several medians. Villarreal then jumped out of the vehicle and ran. Deputies chased Villarreal and took him into custody. Villarreal was booked into the South Placer Jail for evading a police officer. The Sheriff's Office confirmed Villarreal was also booked for possession of meth, paraphernalia, burglary tools and a fake California driver's license. The Sheriff's Office reported Villarreal also had outstanding felony warrants out of the Bay Area for kidnapping and domestic violence. Villarreal's bail is set at $555,000 and was set to be arraigned at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Placer County Superior Court.
