Auburn traffic stop leads to parole violation arrest

A Saturday morning traffic stop in Auburn resulted in a loaded firearm arrest. An Auburn Police officer conducted a stop on a black Tesla after the driver treated a red light like a stop sign, the police department reported. The investigation identified the driver as Antonio Omareon Scott, 23, who was confirmed to be on parole for violation of assault with a deadly weapon. Scott was detained while officers conducted a parole search of his vehicle. Scott was known to carry firearms and attempted to access the vehicle's glove box. According to Auburn Police, Scott claimed he had forgotten the passcode needed to open the glove box. As a result, the Placer County Sheriff's Office responded with K-9 Sonic to assist, and Sonic showed interest in the glove box. APD reported officers forced the box open and located a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine. Scott was arrested for the firearm violation. According to online inmate information, Scott was released from custody on Saturday.
