Football rankings: Folsom, Del Oro, Rocklin win big

1. Folsom (2-0) Result: Def. Mission Viejo 35-21 This week: at San Francisco-Sacred Heart Cathedral Folsom made a statement last week, downing Mission Viejo by two scores. The Diablos handed the Bulldogs their only loss of the season last year, and Folsom got its revenge while clearing its biggest regular-season hurdle. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Mission Viejo even picked up a first down. 2. Oak Ridge (1-1) Result: Lost to Central East 20-14 This week: at Irvine-Crean Lutheran Oak Ridge showed it can hang with one of the state's better teams, but the Trojans couldn't finish the job in a 20-14 loss to Central East. After trailing 14-0 at halftime, Oak Ridge rallied within six and had the ball at the Bengals' 35-yard line with 53 seconds left, but couldn't find the end zone. The Trojans now face another major test at Crean Lutheran. 3. Del Oro (2-0) Result: Def. Mountain View-St. Francis 19-17 This week: at Palo Cedro-Foothill Del Oro is 2-0 after a wild road win over St. Francis, rallying for a 19-17 victory in Mountain View. Malik Harris was the hero, going 4-for-4 on field goals, including the 25-yard game-winner with one second left. The Golden Eagles also got a 66-yard punt return touchdown from Chase Carmazzi and now head to Palo Cedro for another test against Northern Section power Foothill. 4. Rocklin (2-0) Result: Def. Reno-Bishop Manogue 33-0 This week: vs. Pleasant Valley Rocklin continues to look like one of the area's most complete teams, dominating Nevada power Bishop Manogue 33-0. The Thunder forced five turnovers and have allowed just seven points through two games while outscoring opponents 79-7. Junior quarterback Parker Lively has also thrown six touchdowns in his first two varsity starts. Pleasant Valley of Chico is next. 5. Woodcreek (1-0) Result: Bye This week: vs. Sonora Woodcreek was idle last week, giving the Timberwolves a chance to rest before a big matchup this week. They'll host Sonora in a rematch of last year's NorCal championship game, when the two teams battled for the title. It's an early-season test against a familiar opponent with plenty of recent history. 6. Granite Bay (2-0) Result: Def. Cosumnes Oaks 55-21 This week: at Ponderosa The Grizzlies are 2-0 after hammering Cosumnes Oaks 55-21, following a 47-16 win over Vista del Lago in Week 1. Granite Bay has scored 102 points in two games, including 35 in the first half Friday, and now gets a bye before opening SFL play. 7. Twelve Bridges (2-0) Result: Def. Larkspur-Redwood 21-14 This week: vs. No. 9 Whitney Twelve Bridges keeps rolling after beating Redwood 21-14 in a game that tested the Raging Rhinos late. Twelve Bridges did enough on both sides of the ball to hold off Redwood and improve to 2-0. The Raging Rhinos now turn their attention to another key early-season matchup as they continue building momentum. 8. Placer (2-0) Result: Def. Ripon 14-7 This week: at Laguna Creek Placer is 2-0 after grinding out a 14-7 win over Ripon. The Hillmen jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and then let their defense take over, holding off multiple fourth-quarter threats by the Indians. With Chase Rodarte sidelined, Cole Atwood stepped in at quarterback and delivered a touchdown pass while making several key plays late. 9. Whitney (1-0) Result: Def. Lincoln 13-0 This week: at No. 7 Twelve Bridges Whitney made a statement last week, shutting out Lincoln 13-0 in a defensive battle. The Wildcats held Lincoln scoreless throughout and controlled the game with a physical defensive performance. Defensively the Wildcats have yet to give up a touchdown this season. Whitney moves to 2-0 and will look to keep the momentum going as the schedule gets tougher. 10. Roseville (2-0) Result: Def. Oakmont 35-31 This week: at West Park Roseville showed plenty of fight Friday, rallying from a 17-point deficit to stun Oakmont 35-31. The Tigers trailed 28-14 at halftime but outscored the Vikings 21-3 in the second half, scoring the final 21 points of the game. Hunter Felkins led the comeback, throwing the game-winning touchdown to Park Howard-Hammer with less than a minute remaining as Roseville improved to 2-0.
