Placer Plug-In Day scheduled Oct. 3

Placer Earth Care Action will host Placer Plug-In Day, a free event to celebrate National Drive Electric Week and California Clean Air Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 3. The festival will be held on the hilltop campus of First Congregational Church at 710 Auburn Ravine Road in Auburn. The festival will feature new EV cars to test drive and a display of various models along with a panel of EV owners available to answer questions and provide helpful information. There will be a resource fair with informational and promotional materials from several of these organizations, as well as speakers on electric cars, electric bikes and home electrification. The Health Education Council will be on hand with information and application assistance for the Driving Clean Assistance Program (DCAP). Low-income applicants that qualify for DCAP can receive financing assistance in the form of a grant of up to $7,500 to purchase or lease a new or used plug-in hybrid, electric or fuel cell vehicle and an additional $2000 to help cover the cost of charging, either by installing an EV charger at home or via a prepaid card to use at public charging stations. In addition to celebrating Drive Electric Week and showcasing new electric cars and EV owners, the event also celebrates California Clean Air Day, an annual, statewide program built on the idea that shared experiences unite people to take action that can improve our community health. This year millions of Californians will take simple individual actions to clear the air and improve our community's health. This program promotes driving electric cars and bikes as well as changing air filters and switching out harmful cleaning products.
