New Rapid Link express transit service launches in October

A new express transit service will make it easier to travel between Lincoln, Roseville and the regional light rail system. The Rapid Link launches Thursday, Oct. 1; it offers an express bus service connecting the city of Lincoln, Westfield Galleria at Roseville, Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Kaiser Roseville Medical Center and the Watt/I-80 Light Rail Station. City officials say the transit service is designed for more convenient regional travel by providing a streamlined route with limited stops along the Highway 65 and Interstate 80 corridors. The service offers commuters, students, seniors and other travelers a new option for getting around the area while spending less time navigating traffic. Rapid Link is served by all-electric, zero-emission buses. "Rapid Link expands local and regional transportation for commuters, students, shoppers and visitors. As our communities grow, services like this provide more options for people to travel throughout the region," said Mike Costa of the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency. For a limited time, passengers can ride Rapid Link at no cost before fares go into effect; passengers can plan their trip, track buses in real-time, and receive transit alerts through the TripShot mobile app. The express routes also support regional connections, which aligns with goals to strengthen public transit options across Placer and Sacramento counties, according to city officials. Rapid Link will be operated by Roseville Transit in partnership with the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, Placer County Transit, Yuba-Sutter Transit, Sacramento Regional Transit, and city of Lincoln.
