Kevin Kiley to host 2026 Congressional App Challenge

Third Congressional District Congressman Kevin Kiley announced in a media release Oct. 8 that the submission period is open for the 2026 Congressional App Challenge. This competition is designed to encourage middle and high school students to learn how to code by creating their own web applications. The challenge highlights the value of computer science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education. Each app will be graded by an independent panel, and all awards will be commemorated with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to be displayed on Kiley's official website. Last year more than 4,600 original apps were submitted from students across the country that focused on real-world challenges ranging from health, accessibility, education, sustainability and civic engagement. Additionally, first-place winners will receive an invitation to the House of Code Celebration in Washington D.C. in spring of 2027. The winning app will be displayed in the U.S Capital Building and featured on the House of Representatives website, House.gov. The deadline to submit an app is Monday, Oct. 26 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. All apps must be submitted by the deadline to congressionalappchallenge.us.
