Aldo Pineschi Park celebrated with ribbon cutting in Lincoln

The opening of a new neighborhood park last week was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony, marking a significant step forward for recreation and open space in the Lincoln Crossings neighborhood. The city of Lincoln and the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony at Aldo Pineschi Park at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9. The park is located next to Scott M. Leaman Elementary School. The 5.4 acre park, formerly known as Henry Rood/Brentford Circle Park, was renamed in 2024 in honor of Aldo Pineschi Jr., a longtime community partner and public servant. City officials said the name recognizes Pineschi's commitment to education and his efforts to connect people throughout Lincoln and the Placer County region. The park was designed to provide residents with a variety of recreational opportunities. Amenities include a basketball and futsal court, a multipurpose field for soccer and picnicking, a sand volleyball court, ping pong tables, cornhole goals and two playground structures designed for children of all ages. Additional features include a parking lot, pedestrian access point, a restroom facility, shade covers, barbeque grills, drinking fountains and benches. The park also connects with the Brentford Nature Reserve Trail. The project has been several years in the making. In September 2024, the Lincoln City Council authorized a contract with Olympic Land Construction for an estimated $3.6 million refresh, along with funding for construction management and inspection services. Construction had progressed throughout 2026, with the city reporting that the project was substantially complete by August. Part of the park had opened to the public while the city completed the required landscape maintenance before fully opening the park. Pineschi was known for his never-ending desire to better the community and his involvement in local politics and philanthropy. He was a highly respected political consultant, closely involved with the Lincoln, Rocklin and Placer Chambers of Commerce and a founder of pivotal organizations like the Placer Business Alliance and Placer Breast Cancer Foundation. Pineschi, officials said, was mainly known for his kind heart; despite being heavily involved in politics, he remained beloved and was considered fair, even among people across the aisle. Pineschi was also a driving force behind many charitable causes, including the Tommy Apostolos Fund, which helps struggling families within the area pay for clothes and school supplies. The park's namesake was selected by the City Council because of his contributions to Lincoln and his role as a community partner. City officials said the dedication allows Pineschi's legacy of public service and community connection to live on for future generations.
