Groundbreaking begins for new Kaiser outpatient facility in Folsom

Groundbreaking began for Kaiser Permanente's new comprehensive care center in Folsom. Hospital officials say the center aims to provide medical services in one location. The out patient facility, located at 285 Palladio, will be 187,000 square-feet and is expected to open in May 2030. The center will include urgent care and 60 clinical offices offering adult and family medicine, oncology, and other services. Pharmacy, lab and imaging services will also be offered on site, which will be adjacent to the existing Kaiser Permanente Folsom Ambulatory Surgery Unit. The project also includes a 27,000 square foot expansion of the existing surgery unit, which is expected to be completed in March 2028. Kevin Smith, interim senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Roseville (which includes Folsom) said this care center will allow Folsom residents to get medical care in their home town rather than traveling outside the area. "People increasingly want convenient access to care in their own communities. They want services connected together in one location. They want healthcare that is coordinated, seamless, and centered around their needs. This campus will help us meet those expectations while preparing for the continued growth of Folsom and the surrounding region," said Smith. This will be Kaiser Permanente's second comprehensive care center in Northern California and represents an increasing shift of care from hospitals to outpatient settings. This is driven by advances in recovery science, new advanced surgical procedures and treatment therapies that often allow surgical patients to be discharged to recover at home, said Kaiser officials. This shift is also due to innovative uses of technology as telehealth options, including video, phone, secure messaging and other technology, provide flexibility and give patients different options for how they receive care.
