'Multiple' deaths in Loomis home, investigation ongoing

Placer County Sheriff's Department officers are on the scene on Rachel Lane, in Loomis, investigating a possible homicide involving multiple victims, said Sgt. Alfredo Guitron, Sheriff's detective.Guitron said there are "multiple" deceased victims, one female, the rest male. He said all are in their late 40s and Guitron said he "believe all lived in the house." Two coroner's vans are currently parked in front of the home.According to Guitron, a friend stopped by the home this morning, Saturday, May 28, and found a woman on the floor, unresponsive. Guitron said at 9:55 a.m., a 911 call was placed. He said the Loomis Fire Protection District responded within "a minute" and found multiple victims. Guitron said the Sheriff's department was on scene within eight minutes.Guitron said it "doesn't seem random" and there is the "potential for the person who did this" to be at large.Guitron said one male was transported to the hospital in critical condition and said there is a significant amount of blood in the home. Detectives are trying to identify the victims and no names or details are being released at this time.Neighbors said they heard gunshots last night. Terri Dukes, of Loomis, said she lives on the street behind the house and said she heard three gunshots at about 7:30 p.m. or 7:45 p.m. on Friday night.Cindy Kouza, another neighbor, said a man named "John" lives in the home. She said he did handyman work. Barbara Holbrook, of Loomis, said she was a friend of the male resident and said he had recently been hired at Homewood Lumber.A woman, who did not wish to identified, said she found the resident's dog wandering on Taylor Road around 8:30 a.m. today and returned him home. She said the home's garage door was partially open. She said she knocked on the front door and could hear a television on, but no one answered the door.She said she found the door unlocked and opened it enough to put the dog back in the house.
