Behind the Signature: Geary C. Tiffany

A visit with the Journal's frequent letter contributors.Geary C. TiffanyLives in: North Auburn, with wife Marysue, since retiring three years ago. The Tiffanys have a son and daughter. Geary's first name, "the E is silent," is the last name of his father's best friend, who was killed in World War II.Career: Chief NASA pilot at Ames Research Center in Mountain View. "I grew up in a small town in Ohio and when I went to college, I was in Air Force ROTC. I went in the Air Force right after and spent two years in Vietnam as a fixed wing pilot. After five years of active duty, I spent 19 years in the reserves, taught school, and then NASA came calling." He flew "fast movers" at Edwards AFB, "research aircraft of all types."Writing to the Journal: "I never wrote letters to the editor before. I'm a little concerned from a big picture point of view with stalemates in Washington, D.C. I try to separate the chaff from the wheat. It disturbs me, the bog-down in Congress."Does for fun: "I'm trying to get back into golf. I like to fish.
